Caspa grew up in West London, and was brought up on a diet of jungle & hiphop. At the time he wasn’t old enough to go to the jungle raves so had to be content with his tape packs of Brockie and Det. When garage emerged he naturally progressed into the sound and started attending garage raves.

Paul Oakenfold’ musical career started from admirably humble beginnings, playing soul and rare groove cuts in a Covent Garden wine bar in the late ‘eventies with mate Trevor Fung. By the early ’eighties, having decided that NYC was the place, Paul decamped there armed only with the chutzpah to blag his way into a courier’ job in West Harlem. At that time, more than any other, New York was bursting with musical invention: hip-hop was the freshest street sound around, and Larry Levan – arguably the first ever superstar DJ, inspiring a frenzy in the crowd that some guy playing records had never inspired before – was packing out the Paradise Garage every week with the revolutionary, hypnotic mixing style that would become the acid house DJ’ stock in trade.

There’s a small list of artists that can sing, rap, write sophisticated pop songs and perform them with irresistible charisma. The list of female performers that can do all of that is even smaller, and Amanda Blank is skyrocketing to the top of it. Her verse is a serious exercise in lyrical acrobatics as runs circles around the beat. Drawing from influences of house, hip hop and beyond, Crookers blend their beats with the kind of fidget house finesse that gives Potty Mouth Music its soiled swagger. Since 2003, DJs Phra and Bot have been drawing upon their collective musical backgrounds to create tracks that twist, startle and surprise with synthetic pop.

Before their collaboration as Crookers, Bot and Phra pursued their music interests on a separate tip. Bot took up the piano and guitar at an early age, later moving onto synths, turntables and sequencers. Phra had already started DJing by age 11, when he was introduced to the Italian hip hop scene. Soon, he morphed into an MC and became fully immersed in a culture that would shape his future production career.

...Afrojack, aka Nick van de Wall is a Dutch DJ from Spijkenisse. He has gone from strength to strength since starting his own label Wall Recordings back in 2007 which soon accelerated a collection of quality releases from “Don’t Be” to “Proper Introduction” and “Thief”. In his field, Afrojack soon became considered as a genius producer and embarked on a series of collaborations with international artists such as David Guetta, Diplo, Kid Cudi, Laidback Luke and Steve Angelo to name but a few.

It wasn’t long until he returned to the clubs in 2008 with “Math” and “Do My Dance” and as predicted both tracks were quickly picked up by every big name on the scene. The remix, “Drop Down (do my dance)” was soon born.

He scored his first hit in the Dutch charts in 2008 with the track Drop down (do my dance) together...
